The Committee of Youth on Mobilization and Sensitization (CYMS) has stepped up its participation in preparations for the 2026 National Youth Confab, as some of its members joined youth leaders, officials of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development and members of the Confab Planning Committee at a press conference in Abuja.
The press conference, held on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the State House, Presidential Villa, was organised as part of activities leading to the forthcoming national gathering expected to provide young Nigerians with a platform to deliberate on issues affecting their generation and the future of the country.
Speaking at the event, Chief Obinna Nwaka, Chairman of the Sub-Committee on Contacts and Mobilization, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for creating an avenue for young Nigerians to engage in discussions on matters of national importance.
Nwaka also commended the Minister of Youth Development, Olawande Emmanuel Ayodele, for his role in facilitating the programme, describing the initiative as a significant opportunity to strengthen youth participation in national development.
He described the 2026 National Youth Confab as the first of its kind in the history of Nigeria and assured Nigerians that the Planning Committee would work to ensure that the gathering delivers meaningful and productive outcomes.
According to Nwaka, the committee is committed to creating an inclusive environment where young people from different backgrounds can exchange ideas, articulate their concerns and make constructive contributions to national development.
He also appealed for the support and participation of relevant stakeholders, stressing that the success of the confab would depend largely on broad and meaningful youth engagement.
Representing CYMS at the press conference were the organisation’s Director of Contacts and Mobilization, Hon. Kelechi Ugwumba; Administrative Officer, Mrs Amarah Joseph; Comrade Abdulrasheed Shuiabu; Mr Adeyemi Qudus; Engr. Kenneth Omeiza; and Ms Clever Waka.
The participation of the CYMS delegation further highlights the organisation’s role in the mobilisation of youth stakeholders and coordination of participation ahead of the national confab.
The forthcoming conference is expected to provide a national platform for young Nigerians, youth organisations and other stakeholders to discuss critical issues, exchange ideas and contribute to conversations on Nigeria’s development and the future of its youthful population.
