The National Youth Leader of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Hon. Gbenga Owoyombo, on Friday visited the headquarters of the Committee of Youth on Mobilization and Sensitization (CYMS), where he held strategic discussions with the organisation’s Director-General, Chief Obinna Nwaka, on youth inclusion, good governance and national development.
The high-level engagement, held on September 11, 2026, focused on strengthening youth participation in governance and ensuring that young Nigerians are better positioned to contribute meaningfully to the policies, programmes and development agenda of the Federal Government.
Receiving the YPP National Youth Leader, Chief Obinna Nwaka described the visit as an opportunity to deepen collaboration among youth-focused stakeholders and explore practical ways of empowering young people to become active participants in the nation’s development process.
The discussion also examined areas of common interest, particularly the need for greater youth representation in decision-making, effective mobilisation of young Nigerians and the promotion of policies capable of improving opportunities for the country’s rapidly growing youth population.
Owoyombo, who expressed appreciation for the warm reception, commended CYMS for its activities and sustained commitment to youth mobilisation and sensitisation.
He acknowledged the organisation’s efforts in promoting youth participation in national affairs and creating platforms through which young people can engage with issues of governance and development.
The YPP youth leader also expressed optimism that stronger partnerships among youth organisations, political stakeholders and other relevant institutions could contribute to building a more inclusive and responsive governance system.
The meeting underscored the importance of moving beyond rhetoric on youth inclusion to practical engagement that gives young Nigerians a stronger voice in shaping policies and programmes that affect their future.
Both sides are expected to continue exploring areas of collaboration aimed at strengthening youth participation, promoting good governance and supporting initiatives aligned with the broader development objectives of the Federal Government.
