The Sub Committee on Contacts and Mobilization of the National Youth Confab has appointed Hon Kelechi Ugwumba to oversee the mobilisation of key stakeholders for physical participation at the forthcoming National Youth Confab.
The assignment is part of preparations for the National Youth Confab recently announced by Chairman Central Planning Committee and the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Youth Development, Dr Maryam Kenshiro designed to bring together young Nigerians and critical youth stakeholders to deliberate on issues affecting youth development, inclusion, leadership and national progress.
The development came up during the first Sub – Committee physical meeting after a long recess to discuss modalities for the implementation of the Committee’s role ahead of the Confab.
Hon Kelechi Ugwumba who also serves as the Director, Contacts and Mobilization at the Committee of Youth on Mobilization and Sensitization (CYMS) will coordinate the mobilisation of youth and stakeholders between the ages of 35 and 40 drawn from various youth organisations, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), Faith-Based Organisations (FBOs) and other relevant stakeholders expected to participate in the confab.
The mobilisation drive is expected to strengthen grassroots participation and ensure that diverse voices within the Nigerian youth constituency are represented at the national gathering.
According to the Sub Committee, the involvement of youth groups, CSOs and FBOs would provide a broader platform for stakeholders to contribute ideas and perspectives toward building a more inclusive and responsive youth development agenda.
With his experience in youth mobilisation and stakeholder engagement, Ugwumba is expected to work with relevant organisations and leaders across different sectors to achieve a strong turnout for the physical aspect of the confab while reporting directly to the Sub Committee Chairman, Chief Obinna Nwaka.
The assignment has also been described as a recognition of his commitment to youth engagement and his contributions to the activities and programmes of CYMS.
The National Youth Confab inaugurated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR is expected to provide an opportunity for young Nigerians and stakeholders to discuss practical solutions to challenges confronting the younger generation while strengthening collaboration between youth organisations and government.
The Committee expressed confidence that the mobilisation effort under Ugwumba’s coordination would contribute significantly to the success of the confab.
