The International Relations Officer of the Committee of Youth on Mobilization and Sensitization (CYMS), Ms Benedicta Abuya, has represented the organisation’s Director-General, Chief Obinna Nwaka, at the NEXT Gen Innovation Challenge jointly organized by UKLAD and National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) held in London, United Kingdom.
Abuya attended the event on Friday, October 9, 2026, where she delivered a goodwill message on behalf of CYMS, reaffirming the organisation’s commitment to youth development, innovation and strategic stakeholder engagement.
She departed Abuja for London on Wednesday, October 7, ahead of the event, as part of efforts to strengthen CYMS’ international engagements and advance its mandate through collaboration with relevant stakeholders even though she is part of the Ad-hoc officers deployed at the situation room of the National Youth Confab 2026 in Abuja.
During the programme, Abuya also had the opportunity to network with participants and key stakeholders, including the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), UK Chapter, Hon. Tunde Doeherty, a stakeholder of CYMS in the diaspora.
The engagement provided an opportunity to foster relationships and explore avenues for stronger collaboration between CYMS and stakeholders working to promote youth participation, innovation and development across borders.
Abuya’s participation underscores CYMS’ efforts to expand its engagement beyond Nigeria, create strategic partnerships and ensure that young people remain actively involved in conversations shaping innovation and future opportunities.
Her representation of the Director-General at the international event also highlights the role of the organisation’s international relations office in building connections with stakeholders and advancing CYMS’ objectives on the global stage.
The organisation’s engagement in London is expected to further strengthen its network of partners and supporters, particularly within the Nigerian diaspora, in pursuit of its youth-focused programmes and initiatives.
Earlier, the CYMS’s Director General, Chief Obinna Nwaka had informed the organizer’s of the event through Mr Tope Kalejaiye the Executive Director, Business Development UKLAD informing him of his inability to attend due to his active involvement at the ongoing National Youth Confab 2026 as the Sub Committee Chairman on Contacts and Mobilization where he is expected to monitor the virtual engagement and the day to day activities at the Situation Room located at NITDA office Abuja.
