The Director-General, Committee of Youth on Mobilization and Sensitization (CYMS), Chief Obinna Nwaka was honoured on Sunday with the Distinguish Golden Merit Award of Excellence by Christ Anglican Church, Nyanya during the 2024 General Harvest. The award recognized his exceptional contributions to youth empowerment, his steadfast commitment to community service and his dedication towards the vineyard of God.
The award ceremony, held at Christ Anglican Church, was attended by a delegation from CYMS leaders, including Mr. Kelechi Ugwumba, Director; Contacts and Mobilization, Amb. Nuhu Akurugba, Personal Assistant, and Mr. Stanley Ogbonna, a key CYMS stakeholder, who gathered who were invited as guests.
Rev. Canon Samuel Labuja, Priest of Christ Anglican Church who made the announcement described the awardee as a motivational tool, jolly good fellow and an important personality who has been assisting the youth and members through his position.
He also went further in commending Chief Nwaka for his tireless work in improving the lives of young people, supporting the growth of the church, and contributing to national development. He emphasized that the award was a well-deserved tribute to Nwaka’s relentless dedication to positive social change.
In his acceptance speech, Chief Nwaka expressed deep gratitude for the honour. “I am humbled to receive this award,” he said. “This recognition is not just mine, but for all those who work alongside me in service to humanity. I remain committed to empowering our youth, fostering growth in our communities and work in God’s vineyard”
Earlier, during the harvest, Chief Obinna Nwaka announced the support from friends and well wishers such as Prof Babatunde Bolaji; Senior Technical Advisor to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Chorrie Muta’a, the FCT Sector Commander FRSC among others who sent support to the church on the occasion of the harvest.
Chief Nwaka’s latest accolade adds to a long list of honours acknowledging his lifelong commitment to youth development, community service, and the advancement of the church. His leadership continues to inspire many, solidifying his role as a key figure in youth empowerment and community development.
As the event concluded, the CYMS community, both near and far, celebrated Chief Nwaka’s achievement, applauding his ongoing commitment to making a positive difference in society. His work remains a shining example of leadership, service, and dedication to the betterment of youth and the community.
